01 The short version
Sleep Stats reads sleep and health metrics from Apple HealthKit and does all of its analysis on your device. There is no Sleep Stats account, no Sleep Stats server that stores your health data, and no third‑party advertising or analytics tracking you across the internet.
- We don't collect, transmit, or sell your health data.
- We don't require an email address, login, or profile to use the app.
- Your scores, stages, and vitals are computed locally and stay in Apple's Health database on your device.
02 What the app accesses
With your explicit permission, Sleep Stats reads the following categories of data from HealthKit to produce its readings. You grant — and can revoke — access for each category individually in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Sleep Stats.
- Sleep analysis — time in bed, time asleep, and sleep stages (Awake, REM, Core, Deep).
- Heart data — heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart‑rate variability (HRV).
- Respiratory rate and, where available, blood‑oxygen and wrist temperature trends.
- Activity & energy — active and resting energy, workouts, and steps, used to estimate strain and your suggested bedtime.
- Basic body metrics — date of birth, biological sex, height, and weight, when present, to calibrate baselines.
Sleep Stats only requests what it needs to display the features you use. If you deny a category, the related metric simply won't be shown.
03 Where your data lives
HealthKit data is stored by Apple in an encrypted database on your device. Sleep Stats reads from that database, performs its calculations in memory, and writes its results back to your device's storage (and, where you've enabled it, your widgets and Apple Watch). We do not operate a cloud database of your health data, and your readings are not uploaded to us.
04 What we don't do
- No selling or sharing. We never sell, rent, or share your health data with data brokers, advertisers, or any third party.
- No advertising SDKs. The app contains no third‑party advertising or behavioral‑tracking SDKs.
- No cross‑app tracking. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- No account profile. Because there's no login, there's no central profile of you to leak.
05 Subscriptions & purchases
Sleep Stats offers an optional Premium upgrade through Apple's App Store. All payments are processed by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy — we never see or store your credit‑card number or billing address.
To unlock and restore purchases, the app uses Apple's StoreKit, which tells the app whether a valid purchase exists. This entitlement check does not require your health data. Apple may provide us with aggregate, non‑identifying sales and subscription reports through App Store Connect.
06 Backups & sync
Sleep Stats does not run its own sync service. If you have enabled iCloud or an encrypted device backup, your Health data and app data may be included in that backup under your Apple account and Apple's privacy terms — not ours. You control those settings in iOS.
07 Diagnostics
If you have opted in to Share With App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash and performance diagnostics with us. These reports are aggregated by Apple, are not linked to your identity, and never contain your health data. You can turn this off at any time in iOS Settings.
08 Children's privacy
Sleep Stats is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us.
09 Your controls & rights
- Revoke access to any HealthKit category at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
- Export your readings as plain CSV from within the app, so your data is portable.
- Delete everything by removing the app, which clears its locally stored results; your underlying Health data remains yours in HealthKit.
Because we don't hold your personal data on a server, requests under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete data are largely satisfied directly on your device. If you have a specific request, reach us at contact@sleepstats.app.
10 Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site. Continuing to use Sleep Stats after an update means you accept the revised policy.
